This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Margaret Hayward, 85, born on September 10, 1929 and passed away on May 3, 2015.
Born in Elkton Maryland to the late Edward Fleming and Margaret Haumtratz. Margaret was the eldest of 5 children: Chris, Trudy, Eddie and Erica (now deceased).
Upon graduating high school, Margaret enrolled in St. Francis hospital school of Nursing in Wilmington, De. Margaret received her registered nursing license on Nov.19, 1951.
While working at St.Francis hospital, Margaret met her husband (of 34 years) Clarence R. Hayward (now deceased) who owned a variety store located across the street from St. Francis hospital.
Clarence and Margaret were joined in Holy Matrimony on May 7, 1955. Eventually they left Wilmington, De. to reside in Phila. Pa. Margaret started working at Misericordia ( now Mercy hospital ) where she supervised the New Born Nursery Dept., and later as the night shift superviser for the Emergency Dept.
While working as a nurse, Clarence and Margaret started their family from which two sons were born, Clarence and Tony.
Margaret was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of Saint Cyprian Catholic Church (formerly Saint Carthage Catholic Church) for 60 years. As a parishioner Margaret was involved in many church and school activities.
Margaret leaves to mourn: her two sons Clarence (Kim) and Tony, (Carol) two sisters, one brother, 5 grandchildren' 2 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many loving friends.
The Funeral service will be held May 15, 2015.
